how do Istop bullying?

my six year old son is being bullied by a boy of the same age in our street. I've told my son to stay away from him but it is still going on. I have tried to speak to the boys mum but have been told where to go. I'm at the end of my tether and don't know what else to do does anyone have any suggestions?

Not a politically correct piece of advice, I'm afraid, but when ds was being racially bullied at school, dh told him to whack the other kid as hard as he could, and though I'm slightly ashamed to admit it, it did solve the problem and they made friends, or at least sort of friends, almost immediately afterwards.

I'm sure lots of people will come on now saying that violence doesn't solve anything etc, and they're right in principle, but remember that those posters will be female, and there's a whole different set of rules in the male world of 6 year old boys.

Seriously think of taking him to a self defence class, suitable for his age. It will give him self confidence and the tools to deal with this bully if necessary.

If you are getting no help from his mother then you are really stuck for options.

My nephew was very badly bullied and his parents took him to Judo classes and turned it out he was gifted at it. He went from being a miserable unpopular boy to a happy popular boy.

Mumblechum's advice does tend to have a good success rate. Most bullies are pathetic cowards.

Thanks for the advice girls, just signed ds up for ju jitsu classes through his school hopefully they work x

I'm very sad to say it but I sort of agree with mumble - my ds who's only 4 tends to just stand there if people are nasty or push him around.

Yesterday he was being pushed around by a much older and very large child and ds ended up laying into him as I couldn't get him out and the other boy's parents didn't seem to think it was an issue.

I've said to ds that it's not a great idea to hit someone in future but I have to say he was really pushed and it's gicen him some much needed confidence.

I'm looking forward to enrolling ds in kung fu as soon as he's old enough.
