Pumping advice for breastfeeding mum

Hi All,

My baby is 4½ months old and has been exclusively breastfed since he was 1 month.
He’s a healthy weight, has a good appetite, and I feed him on demand.

In the beginning, I used a mix of breast milk and formula but only occasionally to give me a break, but I stopped because formula caused him constipation.

I’ve just started pumping so I can build a freezer stash, but I’m either not getting anything or only about 2 ounces.

Everything online says he needs atleast 4-6 ounces a feed.

Any advice or tips on how to increase my milk.

I want to have some ready for him to take to nursery as I am not sure how he will do on formula.

Any advice welcome!

Many thanks

Hey OP. Fellow BF/pumping mom here, although I expressed from birth. Do you have a good pump? Right flange size? Are you well hydrated? I started taking liquid IV electrolyte powder recently at 10m and found it’s helped. Perseverance is key tbh as obv at the moment your baby is taking all they need with little left over. Do you use a haaka on the side you’re not feeding from? That’s quite good for passive collection. I thought I had a decent stash but it feels like we are burning through it so quickly, I guess you feel protective over it as it’s such a labour of love!

Thank you for the advice

I use a haaka mostly. The pump I had seemed dead slow and I can actually do it faster expressing my hand.

Tbh I don't drink a lot of water so that could help.

It seems that baby is taking it all 🤭
