The waiting for the appointment is horrible. However, the consultants are lovely. They will want to look at your breasts, and do an examination, so wear clothes that are easy to take off . If you want to take a friend with you, that’s fine, but chaperones are provided.

I’ve always found it’s a one stop shop in my hospital so they may send you for a mammogram or ultrasound . Then you get to see the consultant again. So There could be a lot of hanging around, so take a drink, book, snack etc.

Forgot to say, with breast concerns, it’s pretty routine to get seen quickly (‘two week wait’) whether it’s a suspected cyst or something more sinister. Don’t let the speed of the appointment concern you. It’s perfectly normal.

Sending hugs.

I think that’s a natural reaction . A few days ago, your life was ticking along as normal. Now a grenade has been thrown into it, and there’s a lot of ‘what ifs…’ and you don’t know what the future will bring.

@Bella098Hi, it’s a really difficult time waiting but you’ll be in good hands and the speed of the appointment is within guidelines. I’d just say that I’d ask @MNHQto move this thread to a more appropriate forum where you’ll get more support. This one is for breast pumps!

I have been twice, maybe three times.

Each time I was checked in and we waited as a group in hospital gowns before being called for an examination. Next I would have an ultrasound, get the all clear and be sent home.

Good luck!!
