How to express?

First time mum planning on breast feeding and expressing.

When is best to pump?
How do you time feeding with expressing ?
What's the best way to organise pumping with feeding?
Any other advice or tips!
I don't know enough about it so it's hard to ask questions!

You might find this a useful source of information. https://laleche.org.uk/expressing-your-milk/

I don't want to put you off but exclusively pumping is not for the faint hearted. Do you understand what it is that you're planning to do?

It's much more popular in the US where Maternity Leave is virtually non-existent.

If you do want to exclusively pump I would ring one of the BFing Helplines and talk through your plan and your questions and why exclusive pumping is appealing to you.

I'd also regularly visit your local BFing Group before LO arrives so that you get to meet some local BFing Mums and Mums to Be, that way you should have some local support when LO arrives Wink

This information from Kellymom might be helpful and I assume that you'll need a Hospital Grade Pump?

Kellymom had this to say on buying a new or secondhand pump

Hope your plan works out for you Wink

Oh and do wonder over to the Infant Feeding Section. It can be a very useful source of support Wink

I'm not sure.OP is planning on exclusively pumping? I'd focus on establishing supply first, so exclusive breastfeeding for the first few weeks, then start pumping to build up a bit of a stash and then you'll get into a rhythm. Olivia Hinge on Instagram is a useful resource as is la leche posted above. Good luck!

Sorry just reread the OP and I could have got that wrong.

Whether she's planning on exclusively pumping or occasionally the links should still be useful though Wink

You definitely have the right username if you managed to do that! Wink
