Elvie curve - use without suction?

I’m a few weeks off my due date and am holding off on making any big electric pump purchases before I know how breastfeeding is all going to go for us …

But - there’s some great discounts on the elvie website at the moment and I’ve just read about the whole “letdown catcher”concept for use during breastfeeding which sounds like a great idea.

My question is - if I get the elvie curve (rather than the catch) - can I use it without suction in those first few weeks that they recommend not pumping in to prevent oversupply, then gradually shift to using with suction after 6 weeks or so ? Is it practical enough to use as both a catcher and a manual (albeit light suction) pump ?

thanks !!!!

Yes, you could definitely use it without the suction for a few weeks if you wanted to. I used it with suction from birth and had no issues. From about 8 weeks pp I managed to fill the whole thing from one feed so it’s such an easy way to express milk!

I initially used the Haakaa to collect let down but there were a few occasions where it popped off and spilled everywhere. The Elvie Curve is also much more discrete so I can wear it while BFing when we have people round. Would totally recommend it!
