My baby boy was born on his due date but spent a week in the NICU. I didn’t started breastfeeding until he was 3 days old. In the hospital I was told to pump after each feed to up my supply and use the milk to top up if needed. He’s now 4 weeks and EBF apart from the odd bottle my partner wants to give him. Ive dropped down to a morning and evening pumping session. But do I really still need to be pumping? He’s not needing too ups and I now have 50oz of milk in the freezer. I’m just worried if I stop pumping he won’t have enough milk.

So he has a latch and you are going to continue breastfeeding and have some ready for bottles?

No, you don't need to pump.

But pumping will increase your supply, but baby will increase it to the correct amount. He won't get from pumped milk what he will from fresh because the saliva communicates his needs to make more fat, different antibodies.

So just keep breastfeeding, well done.

yes, he latches great. I had been giving him a bottle every so often just so he will take one.
