Breast pump advice - first time mum

Hi,

I'm currently breastfeeding but I'm looking at expressing soon -not exclusively - so my husband is able to help feeding and bond with our little one as well. I'm a FTM and my baby is 4 wks old. We have a whole set of tommee tippee bottles and I would like to know when I should be looking at starting to express and what are people's opinions on which breast pump is best to use.

Currently I'm looking at the Tommie tippee electric or one from amazon but I'm a little unsure about it.

Ideally I don't want to be spending too much as y won't be expressing exclusively until when I go back to work.

Thanks in advance! 😊

Why don't you get a silicone pump just now which you can just suction onto the other breast when feeding. They are very effective and hassle free.

I currently use the tommee tippee manual pump when I need to express if I’m going somewhere, it’s not loads but is more effort than I would like. I would love an electric one but can’t justify spending that much when I would use it so rarely so I think it completely depends on what your plans are, if you’re certain you’re going to keep using it regularly then buy it, you won’t regret it.

Like PP, I’d recommend a silicon pump. They are cheap and you can just put on one breast, while the baby is nursing from the other. It was pretty much the only way I expressed until my baby was 6 months and I usually collected enough milk throughout the day for my husband to give a bottle.

I also had a Medela Swing but didn’t use it until I was back at work and was expressing at the office - it’s good but expensive. And the silicon pump felt like much less hassle when I was home with the baby.

Congrats btw
