Medela Swing not as good as a manual pump

My LO has not yet latched so I've been expressing using a manual pump. Was getting over 50ml in 20 mins but was advised by midwife that an electric pump would be better. I ordered the Medela Swing and have used it today and it's awful! It's so slow, got 50ml in double the time. It also only 'pumps' the nipple, not the wider breast around the nipple which is why I think I get more milk more quickly from my manual.

All the reviews of the Medela are glowing, am I doing something wrong?? Anyone else found this?

I found my Medela Swing MUCH faster than manual pumping, and not at all as you describe.

I'd check the set up and instructions again because it sounds like something isn't right.

Thanks Coola I'll do that. I was so looking forward to it arriving today and thought it would revolutionise my time! Hopefully it's just something in the set up....
