Which teat size for a 5mo bf baby?

Hi, DD is 5mo and we're off on hols soon. I'd like to give her a bottle of expressed milk in the evenings so I can have a couple of drinks but wasn't sure which size teat I'll need. I've tried the odd bottle here and there which she takes fine but the teats were the ones provided with the bottles (newborn, I assume). Will a teat designed for a 5mo make the milk flow too fast for a bf baby? We're using tommee tippee bottles. Thanks

I used a newborn teat at that age.

Dd is 5months and still has newborn teats as she takes bottles at a fine speed so didn't bother getting next size up. You can drink a bit and bfeed you know. Very little gets into breastmilk.

Thank you, will stick with the newborn ones then (which she seemed happy with the other day). I get really confused with how much you can drink whilst bf'ing ! We're off camping so think I'll need a couple of drinks to get me in the spirit of things!!

Well, as I understand it, the amount you can drink and still be legal to drive (or, indeed, in a fit state to look after a baby properly) is fine for BF.

I'm assuming you wont be getting plastered with a baby to care for, so really there's no reason not to just BF. Or will she be elsewhere?

Kellymon - BF & alcohol.

Thats very useful, thank you driventodistraction. DD will be with me but as she generally cluster feeds in the evening I'm never too sure when she'll feed/when its safe to have a drink. I'm hoping to give her one bottle feed of expressed milk so I can relax for the evening and have a couple of glasses of wine (thats the idea but whether its more hassle than its worth we shall see!).
