Expressing advice for 9 month mix feeder

DD is now in childcare during the day and I bf morning and evening (c 6:30am/pm) since she was 8 months old, childminder gives her 2 x ff in between.

My milk supply is on the wane, what would be a good expressing schedule to get it going again? 2 or 3 short pumps during the daytime? 1 big pump mid-afternoon? Don't want to stop bf yet!

Thanks in advance for advice

Hi calypso!

Can you try expressing just before you go to bed? Night feeds are the best way to maintain supply so maybe pumping both breasts before you sleep will have a similar effect?

Hey Iggly

Could try that - boobs are sad floppy sacks by the end of the evening feed, but morning milk supply is ok - its the evening one that I'm struggling to get up to a decent amount.

I think I need to eat more cake

I know what you mean about floppy

cake is always a good solution. To any problem!!

How's work going?

Work's ok actually, nice to get back into it

Looked up KellyMom advice for working bf and it suggested that I express 4 x 15mins a day. That a whole hour of my work day!

Tried earlier with the hand-pump and squirted c20ml combined Gone are the days when a single boob could put out 200ml! And I got hand cramp

Will try again with the pump, having devoured some maple cake for lunch

That is a lot of expressing. Can you do a couple of sessions in the evening once home or does it have to be all in work time?

mmm maple cake sounds yum

I'm going back to work in 3.5 months. A little bit nervous!!
