taking stemetil when bfeeding?

i suffer with vertigo & stemetil is the only drug that eases symptoms when they act up. I was told i could take it after delivery but 2 gp's have told me not to take when bfeeding - even though i was bfeeding straight after delivery. I know most gp's are overly cautious on taking meds, i would only be taking it once in a while not all the time. any advice?
