Hi,

I'm currently TTC DC2 and am BF a 11month old. He has 2/3 feeds at night, mid morning feed, afternoon feed and evening feed. He doesn't have his afternoon feed if we're out.

I just wondered how many feeds per day you were on when you got pregnant and how you felt about BF while you were pregnant? I think I'd carry on if I got pregnant while BF but I'm worried it'll never happen in the first place. Currently trying to drop feeds / stop completely.

TIA

DC2 was 8 months when I conceived DC3. BF on demand during the day, but no night feeds.

I knew straightaway that I'd continue to feed DC2 through the pregnancy.

DS was 18ish months when I conceived. Got painful while I was pregnant iirc and also difficult near the end with a big bump. I think when I got pg he was on morning/evening & night when I was at work but pretty much demand fed at the weekends.
I only had two periods - 45 days apart in between him and getting pg again, so you don't need to have settled back into a regular cycle, which was always my worry.

dd1 was 16 months when i fell pregnant with dd2, she fed morning and night and though bf and being pg wasnt that great it was ok and for me at the time it seemed sensible. at the moment ttc child 4 and unsure if i will continue feeding dd3 12 months through pg, will have to see how it goes

DS2 still nursed 7-8 times a day (he still occasionally nurses that much but more normal 3-5) and was probably having 1-2 night feeds when I got pg with DD. He was 11 months then.
Any help?

Hi, I fell pregnant when my daughter was 3 months! (didn't ever see period!) breastfed through preg and breastfed both children until the eldest was 15 months. was absolutely fine, just had to eat more as got quite tired. I am pregnant again now and still breastfeeding the littlest who is now 15 months. will try to cut down and stop before new one is born tho!
I think it's more likely that you'll ovulate if you drop feeds at night, as this is when hormones are more active etc although obviously that's the hardest ones to drop! At 11 months tho, i'd imagine that your body would be gearing up for ovulation - i think it's pretty unusual to go much beyond a year without a period.... good luck! (there's only really one book around about tandem breastfeedng, called 'adventures in tandem nursing' and it's not really that brilliant unfortunately, but worth a look for the personal stories if nothing else!)

I fell pregnant as soon as we cut out night feeds, am now 8 weeks pregnant. DD is 21 mo. She still feeds a LOT during the day which is tiring but I'm determined to carry on. Are you co-sleeping?
