Could my breasts do this?

I am lazy, lazy, lazy. This is why I breastfeed. I really can't be arsed with expressing either. I will be probably going to return to work when DD is approx 11 months so leaving her approx say 0830-1730.

Without expressing would it be possible to:

Continue to b/f all the time I am with her i.e. mornings/evenings/nights/weekends?

If that's possible how about if

Continue to b/f all the time I am with as above but be away from tues morning to thursday evening - or would my boobs explode? And would it be cruel to be away for that time anyway? (The being away would probably be every fortnight ish)

Your beasts will be able to feed easily however you will IME have to stick to the same times on the weekend or your breast may get engorged as they will try to make extra milk Monday . Obviously give other fluids while you are not there .

Ah sorry didn't realise you meant two days a fortnight that would be fine I think what you suggested just give her something else while you are out and continue as normal when you are in.

Ok, so I shouldn't just feed on demand when I am there? I am assuming DD will be feeding considerably less at that age?

Yes feed on demand and ignore my first post I thought you meant working 9-5 every weekday . But as you are only out for a few days still feed on demand when you are there.

MamaChris · 02/07/2010 13:58

do you really mean being away from tue am to thur evening including overnight? I think my boobs would have exploded (felt like they were going to about 2 days after I stopped feeding around 15 months). sorry.

or do you mean you'd just be at work those two days but there in the evenings? I think that would have worked ok for us.

thirdname · 02/07/2010 14:01

hm, mine would probably explode, but still do-able I think.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 02/07/2010 14:15

Sorry for being unclear! 9-5 mon friday INCLUDING tues/weds night away.

I suppose I could always squirt some down the sink to avoid explosions [GRIN]

mine could have done this, but would have been quite uncomfortable so I would have expressed a bit while away. (by hand in the shower if you are lazy)

I was thinking the same, could have a cheapo breastpump in your desk drawer to relieve yourself if you are bursting??

I go 11pm-7am now as DS2 sleeps all night (yippe) (8 hours without a problem) - breasts full though. So 10 hours during the day would be ok. I think with an overnight you'd need a breastpump.

By the time my dd was 11 months I was down to feeding once a day anyway, at 6 o'clock in the morning. If you cut down gradually, your body will adapt.
