Ds is 6 weeks and has had a white spot on the roof off his mouth and a white toungue for as long as I can remember. He also has very bubbly poo and gets nappy rash.

Hv said not to worry about it, but a nurse recently said I should get to the dr asap and get treated for thrush. I don't think I have any symptoms, have had itchyness on my breasts but not nipples, and sometimes get twinges in them, but not pain, other than my let down which is very strong.

does anyone have any experience of thrush and should I be worried? I know how to treat thrush in me with diet etc, but have no idea what to do with my little boy!

The doctor may prescribe him something - can't remember the name - it's just a gel that you put on the affected areas. I think you have to treat your nipples as well with the same stuff.

When I had thrush with DS1, you could just buy Daktarin over the counter and use that but you're not allowed to do that now.

IT SOUNDS LIKE THRUSH . WHERE IS YOUR HEALTH VISITOR ? THIS IS THE TYPE OF THING SHE IS EXPERT AT AND SHOULD BE PRESCRIBING FOR!
SORRY AGAIN TO ALL OF YOU WHO ARE NOT GETTING A GOOD SERVICE FROM YOUR HEALTH VISITORS, I CAN ONLY GUESS THAT SHE IS OVERWHELMED WITH CHILD PROTECTION WORK.

Am seeing the dr on monday and have been working on my diet and drinking mint tea as advised by the nurse.

I have in fact only seen my HV once, regarding my baby. She has apologised, there have recently been cutbacks in the maternity and HV services in my area so they are really busy now. If you want help here, you have to shout loud enough to get it.
