Dropping day time breastfeeds - bottle or cup?

DS is now 6.5m, and I want to get him off the day time boob in the next few months. No rush to go back to work, just want a bit of freedom...
Anyway, I'm not sue how to go about it:
Will he just take more solids, sip water from a cup, and be happy without milk for a few hours by 8 months?
Should I force the bottle issue -he does have a 10pm bottle, but has refused any day attemps I have recently tried to make?
Should I try to introduce day milk feeds in a cup - I've always thought that they don't actually take much from a cup - just sips... But I would be aiming for bedtime milk in a cup by around 1 year.

Advice / experience please
Thanks
