Metronizadole - did it affect your baby?

Am having to take Metronizadole from today for a dental abcess which is very painful. Am bfing dd who is 5.5 weeks old and have heard that it will pass into breastmilk and although that is ok for her health it will make the milk taste bad.

Sounds daft but I'm really sad at the thought that she might get fussy or upset at the breast (been a difficult road for me and bfing is going really well now). Has anyone taken this and their baby been ok?

I took Erythromicin two weeks ago for the same problem and she was fine with that.

Just so fed up as having to take painkillers too.

I took this when dd was about 4 weeks old.

No problems with her feeding but I think it did cause her diarrhea.

thank you Fay, that's reassuring that the feeding was fine

Pharmacist advised me to take it

2 hours before feeding
or
just after feeding

with food.

Which is impossible, so I just took them with food and fed her when she wanted.

Which was all the time!

yes, no way I could manage to do 2 hours before feeding - she often does one hourly feeds in the day! She has been fine so far with feeding thankfully but nappies very watery already.

realised I got the name of it wrong - it's metronidazole. Sleep deprivation.
