Should I be giving my 16wo water in this heat? Mum and MIL say I should, but the advice they were given as new mums is not exactly current DD gets about 1/3 EBF and the 2/3 formula. If I was to give water, when should I do it?

I am ff and have been trying a little cooled boiled water in the afternoon - usually about4 ish (last feed would have been 2.30. Dd isn't that impressed with it though! You could always try and see. I think midway between feeds (or just before nap) is good time.

I'd probably try and offer some cooled boiled water. I thought that BM is like a drink and food and forumula is like food so water is necessary but I am not very up on formula feeding and only introduced it to DD1 when she was on solids and taking water out a cup anyway.
Put it this way it won't do any harm and if DD is thirsty she may take it. Between feeds or just before a nap sounds sensible.

Exclusively BF babies do not need water.

FF babies should be offered water.
