Tea Tree Oil and BFing

Hi could anyone advise me on using tea tree oil whilst breast feeding please?

I have a fungal toe nail infection which could be cleared by applying a drop of pure tea tree oil daily for however long it takes the nail to grow out so potentially months (I've done this before an know it works).

Other treatments, available on prescription are not suitable whilst feeding. The doc could only suggest caneston cream which isn't working.

I'd appreciate any advice.

Topical medication is usually absolutely fine to use when bf, woollyjo - the stuff does not normally get into the bloodstream and therefore cannot get into the milk. I am not a doc or pharmacist, though. You can get good info from here www.breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk where there are some good factsheets and you can also call them.
