blue feet

i just noticed that babies feet went blue whilst breastfeeding, i had to massage them for colour to come back. her feet where out of the baby grow, whilst the rest was in (rush feed to stop her screaming whilst changing her nappy)....was this purely due to cold feet, or should i be aware of something else. she is fine now. it took about 10 seconds for the colour to return....

Sounds like just cold feet to me - were they cold?

thanks for asking....feeding is now consisting of mainly marathon sessions. She can feed for up to 2 hours!!!. still struggling to get her to wake up to feed, but luckily not for every feed like it was last week. (wow was that only last week).
I have occasionally given her a formula top up, when it seems that she has fed for 2 hours and still not satisfied, but my nipples too sore to go on! the top up has been 10z and 'finsihed off the job'
i know this is not the best approach but feel if she is sucking for over an hour then my breast milk shouldn't be compromised. also i am confident that milk is flowing nicely, especially since it pours out of her mouth afterwards

I think it's fairly common in little babies.. mine were prone to it.. their little feet get cold easily and their circulation is not yet spot on. Blue lips/finger nails are the worrying areas

I'd be wary of formula top-ups - I've heard them likened to "pudding" - basically, a baby who is sated will always take formula because it's a different taste - like you (in the sense of "one"!) always have room for a slice of cheesecake after a filling main meal.

If your nipples are sore, please get a breastfeeding counsellor to check your latch - she'll be able to feed more effectively that way - and hopefully for a shorter time!

Well done though - sounds like you're doing a brilliant job!
