breastfeeding and smoking

Just how dangerous is smoking and breastfeeding?
DS is 14 weeks and EBF, I was out friday night and had quite a lot to drink (had expressed and DP wasn't so was in charge) I smoked until I found out I was PG , 10 a day at the most.
However Friday night I had one fag, and then had one Saturday morning and now one this morning (outside away from DS and have showered/ washed hair/ cleaned teeth)
But is the danger from the nicotine getting into BM?
Has anybody got information on the risks? Or any advice?
Thanks am feeling mixed emotions, obv don't want to harm DS but can even one a day be 'safe'?

Smoking and breastfeeding, whilst not ideal, is less dangerous than smoking and formula feeding.

Not bashing you but if you can help it I would try really hard not to go that route. Having a baby is the perfect excuse to stop.

As someone who grew up in a smoking family, I would hope you'd consider ditching the fags. Not being able to do P.E. without wheezing, going in to school stinking of fags, having to go without so much because any spare money went on fags - I will never forget that aspect of my childhood.

It is a slippery slope - are you not gutted that after giving up for months on end you have started smoking again?

If I were you I would keep smoking to when you are out of an evening - be one of those annoying smokers who nocks everyone else's fags when they have a drink!

Just think how strongly you smell when you have just had a fag, and think how grim it would be if your baby's clothes started smelling faggy.

Take each day at a time and just try to avoid the devil weed.

Will stick to sponging off others on the very rare times I go out.

Am overseas and smoking is not as stigmatised over here, I need some tuts and dirty looks!
