Good during the day, cries all night

My week old baby behaves like a dream during the day... she only cries when hungry, breastfeeds well, sleeps for three hour stretches etc. Then at 8pm-ish, she turns into a little monster...crying non-stop, bobbing on and off the breast, getting all hot and bothered etc, well into the early hours. She sleeps in her moses basket in the day, but hates it at night and wants to sleep with me. Any tips gratefully received!

Let her sleep with you? She's still only a week old. She needs love and comfort and touch and constant access to the breast.

It does get easier, honest.

Congratulations btw!

she thinks night is day and day is night. she's sleeping all day so she isn't tired at night!!! you need to teach her the difference between day and night

make sure during the day she is awake for an hour, working up to 90 mins out of each 3 hourly feeding schedule, and then at night she'll be tired and then she'll sleep nicely between feeds.

don't go more than 3 hours between feeds in the day (measured from the start of a feed t the start of the next feed).

eg 7am feed, say until 7.40 - stay awake until 8.15
8.15 - sleep until 10am
10am wake her up and feed etc etc

Thank you! She always wakes during the day for her feed, and never goes more than two and a half hours to three hours in between feeds. But she then binge feeds at night and needs constant contact and feeding. I really don't mind as I know she's so young, but I want to 'switch' round her days and nights so she sleeps a little bit at night, in the same way she does during the day.
