Did I do much good?

I'm looking for reassurance really. I only fed DD1 for four months (two of which were in combination with formula) and always thought that she counted as formula fed, but I just saw a study that took four months as its cut off point. Would she have got most of the benefits by then?

I'm still feeding my 7mo, and intending to do so until she is at least two, and I'm surrounded by people doing the same so it seems entirely normal, but with DD1 I felt like I was just being stubborn, bf such an old baby (!) Plus I was ill with pnd.

I even occaisionally (if she is ill or I have too much stored) give her a glass of ebm to try and make up for stopping so early (she is 3)

Don't have any figures to hand but I am sure that every day on breast milk is a bonus. And anyway, if I'm reading your post correctly you exclusively bf for the first 8wks before mix feeding which is great - the drop off rate before 6wks is massive so well done you, nothing to feel guilty about

Glad you have better support this time

Every single breastfeed counts. It is magic stuff.

You did well with DD1 and are doing even better with DD2. The WHO guidelines on breastfeeding say exclusive for the first 6 months and then until AT LEAST 2 years but there are still benefits to be had after age 2 so keep it up you're doing the right thing.
