Hiya. My daughter is one on Saturday and for some reason she just REFUSES to hold her own bottle!!! If I put it in front of her she will just cry and start kicking it and all sorts! She is perfectly capable of holding it but she just wont! I left in front of her this morning for ten mins and she just cried the whole time.

I used to work in a nursery and i remember one little girl was exactly the same. Why do they do this? Anybody experiencing the same thing?

Try her with a cup - she might be better holding handles.

Don't know if I have any answers Tiasmummy but DS was very similar to this. Refused to hold a bottle after about 8 months (even though he'd happily taken it off me before). Now at 2.5 he makes us shriek with laughter sometimes by occasionally coming up to me, handing me his beaker and standing there like a little baby bird with open beak to be fed. It doesn't happen often so I usually give in with a "and what did your last slave die of then"?

I seem to remember he was better with a cup and I found that he liked those bottles which are shaped for babies/toddlers to grip very good.

Can you get handles to fit the bottle ? Avent used to do them for theirs for example. Perhaps she just likes being fed and the cuddle that goes with it. If you want her to be more independent perhaps try sitting her in a chair facing you while you hold it for her so she still has eye contact and interaction.

Cheers:-) She has dr brown bottles so...not sure if they make handles for those? Have not yet tried putting milk in a cup, only juice, but will try it.
