I'm losing the battle of the bottle with DD2 who is 10 weeks and EBF.I love feeding her myself and have no problems with supply or expressing. I am not keen to try formula at this early stage. I want to feed her myself at least some of the time until she is a year old. However if she won't willingly take the bottle, I know that when the time comes to go cold turkey and force her by completely withholding the breast, I wont be able to bf her anymore .

I only want her really to take one occasionally but we have been trying regularly for 7 weeks now and have tried 5 different types (Avent, Medela, Breastflow, Nuk & Mam.) I have tried feeding her myself and having others feed her. We've tried when she's hungry and when she's not. We've tried on our knee, standing up and in her bouncy chair.Any ideas anyone? Thanks in advance.

Adding to this thread, my 16 week old baby was happily accepting a bottle of EBM - had been using Tommee Tippee and then 2 weeks ago, she point blank refused it. We deliberately introduced a bottle early as I am self employed and had planned to go back to work at the beginning of August as well as giving daddy the chance to give her a bottle. She was having a bottle approx twice a week but we had a gap of a couple of weeks when she didn't have one and this seems to be when the problem set in. Have since tried MAM and Avent with formula and EBM but have wasted that much EBM that my stocks that I had built up for returning to work are getting quite depleted. TOday, I persisted with the Avent but it was a battle of wills and I think she only took it under duress! Help, I've had to put off work this week til next but if this continues I don't know what to do!

Hi Neeko
I haven't read everyone else's replies so sorry if I am repeating advice but my DS2 (now 13m) used to take a bottle of ebm from birth to about 4 1/2 m a couple times a week then refused it. I managed to get out and bf either before I went out or as soon as I got home. Fast forward to when he was 10m and I had to go away for a hen weekend (2 nights) and I tried desperately to get him back on the bottle because there was no way for me to nip back home to feed, but I had no luck. In the end, he had the ebm in a doidy cup 3 times a day (morning lunch and evening) when I went away. It was fine. And when I came back he came back to BF normally.

Good luck.
