Hi, How much milk do you or did give your 4 months old baby during one day?
Peadatrician is saying 750 ml/d no more ("fat cells grows only in the 1st year, and you keep them the rest of your life....")
box saying 5*210=1050 ml/d
MW saying after 6 kg, babies take 1/7th of their weight in milk. for DD would be a wooping 1280 ml
so I am confused . DD takes about 850ml/d. (I am accused of overfeeding her
What do you do?
thanks

Whatever she wants. My two were both ff and I fed on demand for both of them, just as you would breastfeeding. My HV reminded me that if I was breastfeeding I wouldn't know how much they were taking anyway, so I shouldn't be obsessed with measuring it. Good advice I thought.

Were they/are they overweight now?

Very difficult for babies to be 'overweight'. First was on 75th centile from birth and stayed there, second was on 91st centile from both and stayed there, so biggish babies but not excessively.

I gave what mine wanted. If they started draining bottles I increased the amount offered. Neither of mine are overweight (aged 6 amd 3 now).

The 'rule of thumb' is 2.5-2.7oz per lb of weight e.g. a 10lb baby may take 25-27oz per day (or 750-810mls approx). That is just a guide and some babies will take more/less than that.

corrected (born at 37w), she was on 99.6% and recently she has gone off the chart.
not corrected she started at 75% and went up all the way to 99%, but the trend was the same when she was BF. ( what the doc is looking at)
