How Long Does Cows Milk Stay Good?

Okay, first off all, my breastmilk never came in so my son (who will be 1 on Friday) was formula fed. Feel free to flame me, but I didn't have a choice.

Okay, that's out of the way.

Formula is good for 2 hours, even after saliva is added. But starting this week we are changing him over to cow's milk.

So how long can I leave a bottle of cow's milk sitting out, once saliva has been added, before it will start to go bad?

oh goodness - after one I never much bothered! I bfed but I introduced cows milk in a cup after about a year.

2 hours is just a made up figure isn't it? I mean, I just played it by ear depending on the day and the freshness of the milk - nice fresh milk on a cool day? I dunno - I probably wouldn't worry for most of the afternoon.

Oldish milk on a warm day? I'd probably take it away after they stopped drinking it.

But generally if it smells ok I wouldn't worry too much - they are pretty robust by one, IMO.

PS no flaming! Don't feel bad - absolutely your business and nothing to do with your question anyway.

I only added the fact that I bfed because I never knew much about the recommended times for leaving milk, iyswim. So I just made it up as I went along, and my two both survived!

I don't personally go by guidelines and such when it comes to my children, so they probably drank after the 2-hour deadline.
Use your instincts.

And don't worry about being flamed - It's nobody's business if you bf or not x
