BF at cinema - would you?

Hi, I'm thinking of taking my nearly 4 week old to a 'bringing in baby' screening of sex and the city 2 tomorrow morning. Even if I feed her before we go she'll probably want fed during the film, do you think this would be OK seeing as it's a special 'baby-friendly' showing? Or am I a fool for even thinking about a cinema trip this early?
Any feedback much appreciated, Clare x

feed her anywhere you need to! and if you fancy going to the cinema so soon and think you will stay awake () then go for it .

even if you decide to leave half way through, i bet no-one will bat an eyelid.

have a lovely time!

BosomForAPillow · 02/06/2010 18:54

Yes it will be fine to bf in the cinema, especially a baby-friendly showing and no you're not a fool for thinking of a cinema trip.

Are you a fool to be thinking of watching Sex and the City 2 however is another question...

Wigeon · 02/06/2010 18:54

Definitely would.

moaningminniewhingesagain · 02/06/2010 18:55

I would too. Wish we had bring your baby screenings near me, I haven't been since before DD was born 3 years ago!

Lastyearsmodel · 02/06/2010 18:59

What's not to love about this? They're so portable and sleepy at this age, and it'll be dark so can take your time latching her on. You can always leave if it becomes too much.

Just think of me last Saturday watching 'The Princess and the Frog' with a 4yo, a 2yo and a 7m bump. That shouldn't have even been called going to the cinema; it was just an ordeal in the dark. And I couldn't leave.

RedOnHerHead · 02/06/2010 19:00

Yes! BF anywhere she needs to! I've BF in the cinema a few times and DS2 always fell asleep really well, due to the darkness and the noise. Enjoy!

oh and congrats!

Fibilou · 02/06/2010 19:05

I would feed at an ordinary showing - so definitely a Mother and Baby viewing. I wish they did them near me

SuperBunny · 02/06/2010 19:05

I used to do this all the time with DS when he was a baby. I loved it! Have fun

MrsKitty · 02/06/2010 19:30

Absolutely do it! Especially since it's a mother & baby screening.

Well done for getting out of the house so early - going to the cinema beats sitting on the sofa watching rubbish tv in my book

FlipFantasia · 02/06/2010 19:34

Absolutely no problem BFing during a parent and baby screening. I've done it...and so did every other mum in there! It helps keep the babies relaxed and sleepy...

Enjoy the film. I've off to see it on Wed with my baby (he'll be 12 weeks then).

louii · 02/06/2010 19:34

When we go to the mother and baby viewing half the cinema are breastfeeding, all women so no trying to hide boob, lovely and relaxing, go and enjoy. X

BigWeeHag · 02/06/2010 19:36

Hello. I have taken all of mine to normal showings and fed them during them. Usually stop when they get to about 8 months and are more interested in the film than the boobies. Never had a complaint.

trytobebrave · 02/06/2010 19:40

Same as louii, I used to take my ds to mother and baby screenings most weeks and absolutely loads of people fed their babies throughout the films. I hope you enjoy it, I used to love going.

DilysPrice · 02/06/2010 19:43

That's exactly what parent and baby sessions are for! I watched more films in the 6 months immediately post each child than I did in the 5 years previously.

It's great if you're having feeding problems because you absolutely have to sit down in the dark for two interrupted hours and do nothing but feed and sleep.

clare8888 · 02/06/2010 19:46

Thanks for all your replies, as long as we have some sleep between now and tomorrow morning we're definitely going!

We went to see How to Train Your Dragon when DS2 was 4 days old. He just fed/slept the entire time.

lal123 · 03/06/2010 17:21

Just one thing - be careful YOU don't fall asleep too - combination of BFing and Sex and the City

HiccupsAllDay · 04/06/2010 08:23

I have, and not a baby screening, dd just fed and fell asleep leaving me and dd1 to watch nanny mcphee 2 in peace. be warned though i sobbed at the end .

RubyBuckleberry · 04/06/2010 09:21

do it! i went twice with ds when he was small - he breastfed and slept . i watched a film. in the cinema. bliss. there will be loads of other babies breast/bottle feeding. it'll be great.
