just wondering how long it should take to bf my 9 week old.

she hasn't been weighed for a few weeks but has been putting on weight without any problems and seems fairly content.

however her feeds are taking less than 10mins and she screams when i try and get her to take more.

is this normal?

It is normal for some, my DD1 never fed for more than 5 mins. She was just very efficient.

thanks for quick reply-just a bit worrying as when i give her a bottle of expressed milk it takes her much longer.

Mine were the same. 10mins max and only ever from 1 boob per feed

Probably fed fairly frequently though

DS the same (8mo now) - 5/10 mins - the let down is pretty fast. i filled 8oz in under 10mins on one of the times i expressed. (don't do it a lot - and this was in the morning and very full) so he was obviously getting plenty of milk. did feed more frequently at times though, and at night is happy to sit there for longer. he is too into everything to sit and bf for long .

if you think about it, if you were to take big gulps from a drink for 5 minutes flat, you'd get quite a lot of liquid!
