Your boobs after breast-feeding - honestly...

What are they like?

I EBF for 8 months before (reluctantly) giving up, and am just drying up now. Used to be a 36C pre-pregnancy, going up to a 38DD while bf. Now my left boob is tiny and flat. My right has more size/shape but still deflated. None of my old bras fit properly (and there I was looking forward to getting back into the pretty ones)

Do they ever get back to 'normal' or no?

This is purely a vanity question, I know

Well, according to my mum, the deflation post-breastfeeding/baby is nothing compared to after you've had the menopause. Then, apparently, you just wake up one morning and they've flopped to your knees.

So there's something to look forward to, eh?

catinboots · 27/05/2010 14:38

ruined

dorisbonkers · 27/05/2010 16:49

I'm still demand feeding a 19 month old and they're a 34F and a nice shape, but a bit less perky, but the bigger size sorta makes them look nice, imo. It, byt the way was the pregnancy, not the feeding that took them up that size.

But even tho I had great perky 34DD knockers before pregnancy I was paranoid about them. Now I'm very happy with what I have. Big tits ain't elegant, but I feel much more comfortable and kind to myself about my body.

I still don't want anyone apart from my DD to touch them though!

ClenchedBottom · 27/05/2010 16:54

Doris - what, not even a friendly badger?

ClenchedBottom · 27/05/2010 16:55

Sorry - badger fixation getting dodgy now!

dorisbonkers · 27/05/2010 16:58

haha. My badger is intact thanks to section!

RockinSockBunnies · 27/05/2010 16:59

I want to meet the badger!

Breasts post breastfeeding for two years are slightly less perky, but bigger. Which I suppose is a fair enough trade off, since I had A cup breasts before DD and am now a B/C. But I do wish they were more youthful and pointy.

Having said that, my stomach is so vile since pregnancy. I hope that once my childbearing days are done, I'll get some nips and tucks....

muggglewump · 27/05/2010 17:01

Mine look fine, really. I'd still go topless on the beach (donations of beach holiday gratefully received ).
DD is 8 now and I EBF for 7 months, but there really is very little change and what change there is could be put down to me being 8 years older.

The hot badger I saw the other day liked them.......

ShowOfHands · 27/05/2010 17:01

Pag, I see your popped ballooons and raise you a 3 week old pair of balloons that have shrivelled and gathered dust under a radiator. Sadly, they're not even the colour of a cheerful balloon. With the crepey stomach next door, it's like a failed craft experiment under my clothes.

Still, I have nice ears.

TheProvincialLady · 27/05/2010 17:03

Am still feeding DS2 (17m) and let's just say that I see it as a public service to put my bra on first thing in the morning, even just to go and make a drink in my pjs. They are massive, droopy and like a half filled water bomb. In a bra they don't look too bad at all though.

Granny23 · 27/05/2010 17:18

When I had (and BF) my DDs back in the early 70's, I was strongly advised, even bullied into doing my pectoral muscle excercises, several times daily. I have kept on doing them because they seem to work and also help flabby upper arms. In spite of menopause and holding the record for the most breast lumps drained in our health board area and being 63, my boobs are not bad at all and have been much admired. (Well only by DH and 2 x nurses at breast clinic but they are the only people who have seen them recently.)

M32song · 27/05/2010 17:21

two

wet

tesco

bags.

however I only stopped 6 weeks ago so I'm anticipating this 're-filling' effect that some speak of.

until then, where's that badger..?

FakePlasticTrees · 27/05/2010 20:29

oooh - refilling???? Still BFing 2 x a day, and they are not just drooping, but getting measured again today, I have one boob bigger than the other. FFS - I've religiously alternated. so yay for the tiniest bit of hope I can cling too!!!

NellyTheElephant · 27/05/2010 20:51

I think they really do improve with time after stopping bf. I bf my 3 for 6 months each time and boobs looked utterly shockingly awful each time after stopping (spaniel's ears sring to mind) but perked up by about 6 months after stoping. I was a 34B before I had DC1, went up to 36DD when feeding and down to A cup soon after stopping. Now (8 months after stopping bf DC3) am 34C, so a cup size larger than pre children even though i'm more scrawny now than then (run ragged.....) and not so very unperky, actually i'm pretty happy, so hang in there and hopefully they will improve...........

itsruddycold · 27/05/2010 21:13

I have been feeding DS for 9 months, was a 32B before, now a 34D but right boob is loads bigger than the left...eeek please please please go back!

onwardsmummy · 27/05/2010 21:14

I EBF until 10 mo or so. Stopped 6 weeks ago. Am the miserable owner of a size smaller, stretchmarked, wrinkly spaniels ears. Frankly I'm gutted and my confidence has taken a battering. Yes I'm vain. But I was unprepared for the huge difference... Glad to hear they get better after a while but I'm not holding my breath. Not looking forward to bikini season!

onwardsmummy · 27/05/2010 21:16

Ruddy I also had mismatched sized breasts after stopping but they both shrunk - raisin like - to the same size after a few weeks. That's something at least... So hopefully this will change!

LaDiDaDi · 27/05/2010 21:25

I remember going to try on bras a while after giving up bf dd and being almost in tears as my boobs looked like empty icing bags. I then went to see a v.good friend who had just had her dc1, was breast feeding, and looked like Pamela Anderson.

Happily my boobs did improve pretty much back to normal perkiness but I will report back after I stop bf ds, after pag's posts I'm a bit more worried than I was....

I do like badgers though .

Oh, and I will not stop bf until after this year's summer holiday!!

smokinaces · 27/05/2010 21:30

I honestly dont think my boobs have changed at all.

I was a 36E, went up to a 38G. Breastfed DS1 for 4 weeks, DS2 was fed for nearly a year. Am currently a 36F-FF and am sure they are in the same position etc as before.

To be fair, having big boobs anyway meant they were never amazingly perky, but I wore very well fitting bras and wear a trainer bra to sleep still which I'm sure helps.

Then again, my mum seems to have good boobs still after breastfeeding three kids to over a year and being 50 so maybe its just one of those things!

Shitemum · 27/05/2010 21:34

Has nobody on this thread mentioned that (apparantly) it's the pregnancy hormones that knacker your boobs, not breastfeeding???

BabbatheHun · 27/05/2010 21:36

yep, shitemum is right...

and I don't care what will happen in a few months. Right now, I have fabulous boobs . For some reason, they look better now ds is 6m than when he was a newborn, they don't look pumped up full of milk, they just look naturally big (ie they are soft, not rock solid with milk)

MiniMarmite · 27/05/2010 21:42

Erm...

Was 30E beforehand. Went up to 38E...collapsed to a 34B (even when still bfing)

Now pregnant again and a 36D ...

Adair · 27/05/2010 21:43

jellybeans, my daughter spoke sense to me after I said 'look my tummy is a bit round do you think maybe I am growing another baby in there, or do you think it's all the chocolate'. She said 'mummy, I think it's because me and ds used to live in there'.

My boobs were fabulous pre dc. They changed a tiny bit post-dd, and a bit more bf ds for 13/14mths but tbh it could be age too (am now in my *whisper 30s). And they still look pretty good really...
