re-heating formula/breat milk mix?

I am breast feeding my 4 month old son but after about 10 weeks (no kidding!) of trying different bottles/techniques to get him to accept my milk from a bottle so I can have a break, we have finally found a bottle that he will accept (Medela Special Needs Feeder -it has saved my sanity!!) but we have also discovered that he will happily drink formula, or a mixture of my milk with formula, but has a complete fit if it is a full bottle of just breast milk.....interesting!

Anyway, my question is this.....sometimes when we think he is hungry and make the bottle up and warm it through, he doesn't want it, or has a few sucks and just plays with it in his mouth. I know you can re-offer the formula to them within a certain time scale, but he just will not drink it if it has cooled down and I know you are not meant to re-heat it.....anyone else dealing with this?

I know I really just have to chuck it out and start again due to the fact that he will only drink it warmed through, but it is a shame to throw the breast milk out with the formula that it is mixed with.

My other question is, do I have to re-sterilise everything and start again from scratch, or can I re-use the bottle/teat without doing this?

Thanks - and sorry to drone on!

I think with breast and formula, it has to be used within the hour. You can keep it standing in some hot water to keep it warm up until the hour is up but I wouldn't give it after that.

I personally would sterilise everything again too.

Hope that helps! Good luck
