I have exclusively BF DS2 (6 months) and he has eczema, is always ill and to top it all off I got my period back today despite endless feeding. I KNOW breast is best, but I am finding it very tough to stick to what I really do believe when all the FF babies seem to be much healthier.
I DO want to BF as I really think it is best and we both like it, just need reminding.

good bond, easier as no sterilizing, faffing there's 2 to start with. My DD is nearly 7 months and i'm still BFing. I love it and don't know when i'll be stopping but you have done fabulous to get to 6 months so big pat on the back. It is tough going though isn't it and there are lots of negatives that are never mentioned. My DD is so much more content since she started on the solids to supplement the bfing. She has suddenly beconme this happy smily baby. Before she just wanted lots of breast and never seeme satisfied. It was really tough seeing ff babies all full up and really content from a very early age.

Just a thought though - is something you are eating maybe affecting his skin? Just read lots on here that drinking dairy can sometimes affect your baby. I'm no expert though but didn't want to read and not reply.

Thanks We did a month no dairy..made no difference. Gave him a bit of dairy yesterday to see and he was fine. I fed DS1 til he was 15 months so you'd think I'd be able to see the positives! Just a bad day, I think. FF doesn't really appeal either!

Just a bad day hun. in this heat DD has gone from 6 BF to about 12 so if your DS is anything like that maybe that is giving you a bad day.

He has a virus and a high temp so has fed every 45 minutes for two days. I'm very tired. It will pass. Good news is he doesn't fancy solids at the moment so I get to go back to less stinky poo. SIlver lining, lol.

hehe yes. DD has been having alot less solids too but lots more boobie. Every 45mins is tough going. I suggest lots of garden time with ice-lollies

Turtle Its tough when you hit a low, isn't it? I hope the little guy feels better soon and you feel a bit more positive.

the way I look at it is that if he is ill a lot and has eczema and is breastfed, then he might be a lot worse if he was formula fed

the benefits of breatfeeding are not necessarily immediate- it has many, many long term benefits too
breastfeeding does not guarantee that your child will never be ill, or won't suffer from eczema or allergies, but you can rest assured that you ARE doing the best for him

there will always be some super-healthy formula fed babies and some poorly breastfed babies, but overall BF babies are ill less often

Everyone has bad days, hope you are feeling much better now.

Our DS was ill over and over again once I finished bfing, made me feel really guilty at the time.

Really not looking forward to DD stoping and I think it will probably happen again.
