DD is 3 days old and my milk has started to come in today. Its sooo painful though. So full and sore. They are HUGE!

Ive been expressing to help ease it but wondered if anyone else knows of any magic they could share?

Paracetamols X 2
Hot flannels or go in the bath and express a little
Breastfeed often.

I remember that feeling well - for the first time in my life I had tornado boobs.

Congratulations btw.

It is absolutely true about using savoy cabbage. Put one in the fridge and then when it's cold, put a leaf in each bra cup. Aaaaaah, the relief.

nigglewiggle · 18/05/2010 22:05

It does have to be Savoy. Apparently it contains a helpful enzyme and has clinically proven benefits. WTF- I sound like a cosmetic commercial .

JimmyTarbuck · 18/05/2010 22:12

Yeah, coleslaw definitely won't work

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 18/05/2010 22:13

Congratulations

Feed, feed and feed some more.

Hand express some in the shower to take the edge off.

Beware rabbits though if you follow nigglewiggle's advice

Yes, cabbage leaves do work. Make sure you pick the darkest green leaves, they'll do the most good.

lean over in the bath so your boobs are pointing downwards in the warm water and express there

is my mum's advice so I take no credit/responsibility!

Hot water poured into a disposable nappy makes a lovely warm compress.
