Suddenly refusing 1 breast - help!

DS (16 wks) has decided, as of today, that left boob is off the menu - he comes off soon after latching and cries. Any ideas pls? Nothing has changed - AFAIK no infection in that breast, although it is smaller than the other and always produced less.

TIA

Probably not enough milk. I seem to remember I always had one boob that was more productive than the other.

Are you eating and drinking enough?

My little girl did the same at that age... she'd scream bloody murder if I tried to latch her on the left breast - so much so that we suspected an ear infection. She didn't have one, it turned out to be a phase. However, if we did the rugby ball hold it'd confuse her long enough to stop my left boob getting engorged.

She did stop doing it after a few days.

Thanks for the responses.

Jemjabella, I was wondering about ear infection - have booked doc apt to check.

Thanks again

I would perhaps try getting in the bath with him - this worked with my ds when he went off one breast - I think he was just so relaxed he forgot he had a problem with it!

Hope it all sorts out soon
