Breast Pump reccommendations

sorry if there is already a thread on this, but im a week or two away from giving birth to DD3 and believe i might finally be able to breastfeed longer than a few weeks.
in both previous pregnancies my milk did come in etc, but i had no leaking in pregnancy and after a few weeks i had to mutually agree with the healthvisitor that my milk just didnt have enough nutrients/fat in to support the baby.
but in this pregnancy ive been leaking quite substantially and having to express off some milk just to ease the pressure, and have had that fromm about 20 weeks or so, getting more and more, but no where near the amount when your milk comes in if that makes sense. so i am taking this as a goooood sign that i will be able to breastfeed for much longer this time.

in preparation i have bottles and formula, just incase i have to switch, but i now either way im going to have hubby doing the night feeds, be that formula or expressed milk. i want to be able to express as much as possible and know from previous experience that im terribly at self expressing and never really got much out by myself.

ok sorry for the long ramble, but basically what breast pumps would you recommend and how much success have you had with them?
(yes i know the midwife/health visitor can advise on how to express better, but we tried that before, im just not that good at it!!)

Your dh is going to do all the night feeds? Wow! I would be careful about this re. supply though as it could lead to you not producing enough milk. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will provide more info on this!

With regards to breast pump- I have a medela swing- not cheap but I've found it very comfortable and have been known to pump 4/5 oz per breast on a good session. HTH!

Hi - I'm using the swing medula pump with my DD. She's my first and only 4w, but so far I've found it to be excellent - easy to use and clean (and not too loud!).
I am only managing to express an oz or two a day (I do it once a day in the morning) but hopefully over time this will increase. There is a knack to turning it on (I was pressing the button for too long), but their online trouble shooting guide sorted that.

A friend from my NCT class also has a swing medula and has been getting on well with it.

Good luck - I hope everything goes really well for you

yeah my DH is going to do all night feeds, well almost all of them, he works 4 days a week as a payroll manager but also works nights doing his music in pubs n clubs, so he gets in at like 12/1/2 3 or 4 nights a week so will just stay up.

im going to be careful with supply, i.e. wanting to try and pump/express the feeds for night so im still getting my body to produce the milk, just not at that exact time, same amount over 24hr period, midwife says its doable and worth trying to see if i can express enough, or close enough!!

thanks, will look into the medula one!
