Hi,

I'm the proud mother of 12 week old b/g twins.

They have recently started sleeping through the night which is great but it means that I'm struggling to get enough feeds in during the time that they are awake.

We currently feed them at 7pm and put them to bed. Our son (who is smaller) wakes around 4am and resettles til around 5am when our daughter wakes aswell.

So we feed them between 5-6am, around 9am, midday, 3pm and 7pm.

For each feed we offer 6oz and they usually have about 5oz.

The trouble is I don't think less than 5 feeds a day is recommended but in order to achieve this we're feeding every 3 hours. Obviously with twins it can take over an hour to feed them both so they never seem hungry for their next meal. I beginning to feel like I'm force feeding them because they never have time to get properly hungry before I shoving another bottle in their mouths.

It also means that I find it difficult to get out and about because their next feed is due so soon (feeding newborn twins out and about is fairly difficult unless you've got help!).

They were weighed yesterday (12lbs and 10lb 13oz) and are putting on the right amount of weight.

Can anyone give me some advice on how your babies consume the right amount of food within 24 hours?

Many thanks in advance.

Hello, wanted to share with you my experience as I had 'issues' regarding feeding. I bottlefed dd and she would sleep 12 hours a night and took her time on each bottle. This meant that she would take a break from the bottle then have a bit more to get it used before the hour was up and it had to be tipped out. 10 mins after the hour was up she would want more milk so we had to start again with another bottle. This went on all day with an hour at the most between feeds. It was exhausting. The HV said it shouldnt take an hour for her to feed but what was i meant to do she was a baby and she just took her time and liked a break! The HV said that as she slept so long she had to get the amount of milk she needed by feeding more often. This meant we hardly went anywhere as she was always due a feed. I had tried giving her water, playing with her, cuddles, walks, trying to get her to sleep but milk was all she ever wanted. It was hard work but i would rather it be like that than endless night feeds. She was gaining weight nicely which was the main thing, tho 6-8 feeds during 12 hours isnt the norm it was normal to us!
