Breast shells at night

My baby is 8 weeks old. About 2 weeks ago, I found that I was leaking through my breast pads at night and soaking my bra, so I bought some Boots breast shells.

They work pretty well, but I find that sometimes they leak too, causing the same problem. Think it may be to do with turning on to my side while asleep, and leaking out the spout bit, but not sure.

Has anyone had the same problem and found a solution? Or know of breast shells that won't leak?

Aren't they uncomfortable? They probably leak because you can't keep the spout in the right place; they're not really intended to wear at night.

I have to say that I just used pads and put a towel or a Care Mat under the sheet underneath me, then changed the sheet every day. More work but at least I was comfortable.

Breats shells encourage leaking - so I don't see the point of using them to deal with leaks!

i used to have to use 3 or 4 pads at night. im sure itll all calm down in a wee while, you shouldnt leak for much longer, when your body settle down.

breast shells are great for collecting milk from one breast while baby is feeding from the other if you find that you leak during feeding - thats really what they are for

i am sure it says on my breastshells not to use them for more than 40 mins at a time.
because they can press into the breast and cause blockages (?)

I might just try multiple breast pads then.

I used to cut in half a newborn sized nappy and wear that inside my bra for overnight. Now there's an attractive image for you!! It works though.

I used breast shells too and liked them but they wouldn't have stayed in place overnight. It was only after I'd used them for several weeks that someone pointed out (probably on here) that they encourage leaking because they create a vacuum. So they're fine to use if you want to collect/store the milk for later, but not great otherwise.

i used to cut sanitary towels in half, they are cheaper than breast pads, i used shells to collect from other breast whilst feeding, then used ebm. It will settle down, just takes time
