DD is 3 months today and I have managed to EBF her through mastitis and 2 very exhausting growth spurts. Nobody in my family (apart from SIL who is in the same boat as me as her DS in one day younger than my DD) gives me any praise so hopefully someone on here will give me a pat on the back

BIG BIG pat on the back

No seriously well done - my DS was born 10 weeks early so had to express for 8 weeks when i weaned him off the bottle at home. So i know it can be tough.

You are doing a fantastic job!!! Enjoy the cuddles even when its all through the night. These are precious times. BF can be a mothers greatest joy and you should feel a sense of achievement. Stick with it. Things get even easier after six months.

i have bf 2 children and cried through a blocked duct
I also get pain with a lazy latch and cannot feed through it
I have no idea how people keep feeding through [roblems like this

Fibilou · 05/05/2010 21:21

neither do I spb - I had to express through the mastitis it was so horrific. It was seriously much worse than labour, I think if you can come through mastitis still feeding you can pretty much tackle anything you put your mind to

SNAP! My DD is 3 months old today too and if I'd been told that I'd still be bf now I'd have thought they were crazy. Still hard to believe as my previous 4 children were all bottle fed. Was on verge on giving up at 5 days, 11 days and 17 days. Actually bought SMA and sterilised the bottles so I knew I had another option. Lived through two bouts of mastitis (and antibiotics), cracked nipples which bled and it literally felt that someone was slashing my nipples with broken glass. I had to hold onto something - usually remote control - while she fed. Anyway enough about me !! and congrats on reaching this stage - I fully appreciate what you've achieved
