when will my milk stop?

ds3 stopped feeding at 8 months, he self weaned gradually and now has a beaker, so I haven't been breastfeeding for 2 months but I'm stilll leaking, I still have to wear breast pads day and night, my periods have returned since I stopped feeding (about a week later) and I've had 2 but clearly my hormones aren't sorted, I'm fed up of it really, any ideas when it'll stop?

My milk dried up pretty much staright away,but my DS and DD2 had gone to two feeds a day for a month then just one for ages before I stopped.My DD2 was admitted to hospital recently and barely fed for a couple of days and my milk supply dipped within 3 days cos I was not making enough when she got better.

A friend of mine stopped feeding suddenly, because ill informed by HV that her DD not gaining enough weight on breast milk ,and was given a prescription by GP to stop milk production as she was so uncomfortable. I dont know if you would consider this,I can see that after 2 months it must be a bit annoying to still be in need of pads!

its really annoying, I struggled to keep ds feeding and gave up grudingly and now I have none of the benefit of 'having my body back' and my milk is still there but ds doesn't want it

have you asked your healthvisitor? sounds like her or your GP would be a good place to ask, the hormones do sometimes take forever to settle down though. with my first it took mine about 2-3weeks to dry up, and another few weeks for all the little drips to stop, took much short for the second one, but i only stopped because i wasnt producing enough milk so it makes sense

I haven't met my HV yet - they changed who I was linked to and I've just found out who I'm meant to contact for ds's (late) 9 mo check but I'll speak to her about it - I guess I was kind of hoping some one would come and sympathise and tell me it was normal
