Possibly a growth spurt.
Needing more top up feeds.
Im not an expert, will bump this up for you, some one will help.x

Agree with Donbean - sorry not an expert on bottles either but sounds likely.

Donbean · 30/07/2005 11:15

Its hard going but you may have to give top up feeds in between full feeds, a couple of ounzes maybe. Try to stick with the normal full feeds though to maintain a routine otherwise you will be all over the place.

DD is 16weeks, and I wish she was looking for more. She is only taking 5 or 6oz. It is perfectly ok for your dd to be hungry a couple of hours later, especially as she is growing so fast, her tummy and digestive system are adapting and growing all the time, although not always at the same pace iyswim?
Try something like Omneo Comfort if it suits her it is designed to fill and comfort a hungrier baby. My cousin uses it for her dd and swears by it.

but thats the thing shes having about 8 or so 70z bottles a day and she still seems hungry

Is she on the milk for hungrier babies? Might help if not

misdee · 30/07/2005 11:28

think you'll find its a growth spurt. just keep feeding her, and hopefully she will se4ttle back down in a week or so.

starshaker · 30/07/2005 11:32

the hv suggested using sma white but it just upset her wee tummy 2 much she then suggested i try giving 1 spoon of babyrice mixed with some milk and she loves it fills her up for about 4 or so hours then its back to wanting fed all the time.

only give her it once a day though

feed her on demand.
Never bottle fed but always breast fed on demand!

tiktok · 30/07/2005 13:16

starshaker, she is too young for solids, and even once a day baby rice is not good for her. Shame on your HV suggesting this.

Am I missing something here? She wants feeding more often - why not just give her what she wants? I don't understand the big deal! If you are thirsty or hungry, you get yourself a snack or a cup of tea, don't you? You don't fret because it's only two hours since you last boiled the kettle : )

Ruthiebaby · 30/07/2005 14:54

I don't use formula, but I always breastfeed on demand. This morning it was 6am 7am and 8am.

He's always chopping and changing how much he wants/when he wants...i just give him what he wants. If he has too much it comes back out anyway !

I moved from Aptamil to Omneo Comfort and she's gone from every 2 - 3 hours to generally every 4 hours. It's much more filling. She's nearly 14 weeks old and doing great. Don't worry - babies seem to know what's best, it's better than having one that won't eat... You could phone the Cow & Gate Help Line, they have been FANTASTIC with me. Ask to speak to one of their Health Care Specialists (Bernie is wonderful) as they give good advice. Tel 08457 623 623.
