So i went out on my first night out since having my daughter over a year ago last night and went abit overboard. Havnt drank in over 2 years and oncei had one i got a little squiffy and ended up drinking afew cocktails.

I feel absolutely awful now and wish i had never even had one drink.

I stopped drinking at about half 11 and havnt breastfed since.

My daugters over one and im just wondering how long i should wait.

If i wait till about 11 tonight that will be almost 24 hours will it be safe to feed?

Nothing to be concerned about - no need for you to have stopped bf anyway, IMO....check archives for info on this as it is something that is discussed about once a week

Once the alcohol is out of your system it is out of your milk. Alcohol only gets through in small amounts and passes very easily out of the milk.

Hope this helps

Absolutely. Don't worry, you deserved a good night out - hope you enjoyed it!

Don't worry. Although alcohol passes readily into your milk, it does so at the same volume it passes into your blood (according to Newman's Ultimate Book of Breastfeeding Answers). Bearing in mind that the drink drive limit is 80mg (0.08%), in order for your milk to be horribly alcoholic, you'd probably, from what I understand, have to drink enough to half kill you.
Even if you want to make sure there's no alcohol in your system before you feed your DD, bear in mind that it leaves your system at roughly 1 unit an hour, so you'd have really had to be going some to still have much left sloshing around by now .
Don't feel guilty. You deserved your night out.
