I have no one in real life (except DH) who will cheer this, so thought I'd come here [pathetic attention seeker].

In the last couple of weeks I have just made it to one year breastfeeding DD. She has never had formula (not said as a negative to formula, but just to illustrate that things have gone so well I've not needed it) and was so resistant to bottles that she's only had a few feeds of EBM. I feel quite proud of my achievement, but everyone in RL just asks when I'm stopping. I thought some MNers might be willing to say some nice things to me (pretty please). It feels sad to be so proud of something and have the rest of the world .

well done - that's brilliant

how annoying about people bugging you about stopping though. my DD is only 9.5 months and i already get people asking me when i'm going to stop (and she only feeds first thing and bedtime now, so i'm not even feeding her in public any more). i just brush them off with a comment about probably still feeding her when she's 3, but inside it really irritates me!! :|

Well done! And also good for you telling your story, I also wanted to celebrate when we made the first year and had no support in RL at all, except DH! (Mostly those comments about stopping, grr)

It is a GREAT thing that you have done for your DD!

Well done

That happened me with dd, people were constantly asking when are you going to stop? Even the nurse at her 18 month check up, I don't know why, I think it's just that most use formula so they find it unusual, I fed dd for 21 months in the end.

Fantastic! Well done!

I'm still feeding my DD at 10m, and I'm starting to get the 'is she taking to the bottle well?' comments - er, no I'm breastfeeding her....I'd like us to get to 12m if we can, and then see how it goes from there.
