sore nipples

DS nearly 7 months old, breast fed on demand, which varies from 6-9 times in 24 hours (predominantly during the night, grr!).

just before easter I had a blocked duct, mastitis, thrush, then cracked nipple. that seemed to have healed, but the past 2 days I've noticed both nipples are sore, and not only is there a crack again in the left one (which had all the problems mentioned above), but both are now going white after feeds, and are very painful! they go white like skin does if very cold, so not the same symptoms as the thrush. my HV is also an NCT bf counsellor, and prescribed daktarin for him and clotrimazole for me, and all thrush does seem to have cleared up. my left nipple also has a white blister like thing around the crack, but milk is flowing freely from it, so not sure if it's a bleb?

any idea what this is? I'm going to a bf clinic this afternoon, where there are 2 NCT bf counsellors I can ask for help, but DS tends not to feed there, as it's too exciting for him. so latch may be at fault, but he's not going to let them see that!

also, would you recommend using the thrush treatment some more, or using lansinoh on the crack? I don't want to use lansinoh in case it is still thrushy, but also am in a lot of pain during and immediately after feeds just now!

thanks in advance

I had a mild case of cracked nipples while breastfeeding and my mum suggested sunbathing. I know it sounds weird and unrelated, but it actually helped! So, if you have a private garden where you can go topless, try it out. However, your case seems more serious so do go for what the doctors tell you. Good luck!
