Is it normal to want to consume your onw body weight to food when your breastfeeding a newborn?? LO is 6 weeks feeding every 2 hours in the day and I am soooooooooooooooooooooo hungry!

Worried I will be a whale soon!

goldensnitch, i am also mainlining dried apricots and dates to try and curb sugar cravings. the dates in particular do quite a good job. i have reached for the galaxy caramel a few times, but actually put them back haha don't know where the will power is suddenly coming from??? i think it is the fact that DS is over 6 months now and i just can't bear the fact that i am still not into my old clothes and can't get my engagement/wedding rings on pass the dates then

GoldenSnitch · 16/04/2010 11:42

I suppose it is a bit off topic but it's a natural progression and helpful so I think it's OK?

Dried fruit. Good idea. Make sure you brush well afterwards though as the stick fruit sugars are a nightmare for teeth

RubyBuckleberry · 16/04/2010 11:48

oh thats interesting - thnx

i reckon its a naturalprogression, particularly as you always get told - oh your bfing the weight will fall off...

i seem to remember tiktok saying that it doesn't show in the population until after 6 months though...

WoTmania · 16/04/2010 15:27

Like I said, my weight really started going after 5-6 months with all 3 (not that I put any on with DS1) so that would fit with that. Most people I know who say BF did nothing to help with weight loss stopped at around 6 months.......

GoldenSnitch · 16/04/2010 15:36

I hope it comes off fast after 6 months then cause we're going on holiday when DD is 7.5 months old!

Brollyflower · 16/04/2010 17:02

Goldensnitch -advice on nuts and bf has changed: Food Standards Agency advice. It only ever advised avoiding peanuts, not other nuts, and even that advice was based on quesionable evidence. No other conutry gave similar advice.

oh it is so normal! I started a thread about how much breastfeeding is costing in food!

I find that a slice of bread is not enough, not worth even buttering. I now eat 4 at a time. as a snack. It does slow down a little, not much, and then, LO will have a growth spurt/be poorly and want more milk and then you will start again, desperately scouring the fridge for food to eat like someone who has not eaten for days. I get so hungry i can't wait for food to cook, so i eat a lot of cheese/crisps/biscuits/bread that fill me up quickly while waiting .

DD is 19wks.

Pavlov · 16/04/2010 17:07

DS is 19 wks. DD is 3.8

I did not have any baby weight to lose though i am struggling to keep weight on. Well not struggling when i eat so much food but it is not easy to keep it on.

RubyBuckleberry · 16/04/2010 19:05

pavlov - i ate 5 crumpets one day two weeks ago .

did get wedding rings past last knuckle and a bit further today - yeehaaa - nuts and dates must be doing the trick! fingers crossed... although i really think it is going to be a case of nine months on nine months of with me
