Hi,
my dd is just 4 days old but i feel like i'm having trouble with her feeding. She likes to "snack" so i'll feed her sometimes every hour, with her almost always falling asleep - but this means that she never drains a breast fully - is this a problem at this stage?
She isn't pooing that much, about once a day, though she is often wet - could this be as she is getting all foremilk and no hindmilk?
She's being weighed tomorrow so i guess i'll find out whether i have a real problem then.
My ds was tube fed then on measured amounts of ebm and nutriprem so i'm finding the lack of control this time difficult.
excuse rubbishy one handed baby holding typing.

Congratulations!

I think this sounds completely normal for such a young baby.

Feeding frequently will get your milk supply going.

I don't think you can 'drain' a breast as the breast is always making more milk.

There's a lot of good stuff on kellymom, if you haven't see it already. Look here

Hi, this is completely normal, my dd (now 12 weeks) fed/feeds like this all the time, the more you can put her on the better. The snacking does get better the older they get and dd often falls asleep on boob, I got really stressed about it to start with, did a lot of switch feeding etc but learnt not too stress too much about it as long as she has lots of wet nappies and does 1 poo a day that's a good colour I don't care. I also don't weight her (on the advice of my lovely doctor) as I stressed if she hadn't put on as much as I wanted her to. She's now lovely, and growing, I just don't have figures to write down on the bottle fed chart in my red book!
Don't worry she sounds perfect! Congratulations.
