Dropping BF completely...?

Hi, posted this is weaning too but not getting much response... Maybe better here? Hope someone can help! Thanks.

My DS started weaning at 4.5m and I dropped BF in the day at the same time as he'd completely lost interest. HV advised giving formula milk at the time too as he wasn't gaining enough weight but I wanted to carry on BF so fed bottle and breast before bed and in the morning.

I thought he'd lose interest completely by a certain age but is now 14m and still BF morning and evening. It's not a massive problem but I would quite like my boobs back to myself now (so mean )and rather than losing interest, he's going the other way. Today he had his usual milk feed after his nap and then was demanding a BF, hands down top and everything. Took a lot to distract him.

Anyone got any tips on weaning him completely/ experience of this? Am I foolish to think he will just stop by himself?

My sister was so fed up with breast-feeding at 2.5 years that she painted the 'stop-n-grow' nail varnish on her nipples. Her DS never went there again. Can't say that approach is for everyone though - it may bump your thread for you.

he will just stop by himself yes. but it's unlikely to be in the near future!

breastfeeding is still hugely beneficial to him though, even though he is older now. in fact the WHO advise continuing until your child is at least 2, so food for thought there maybe?

why do you feel your breasts aren't yours?? maybe if you could figure that out then breastfeeding him wouldn't be an issue?
if you are only doing 2 feeds a day i'd say there is no reason why you shouldnt', for example, wear underwired bras etc again...

Really, that's quite interesting thisisyesterday - I thought it was recommended until 1 only. Thanks for that info.

Why do I feel that? Um... not sure really but I just do feel like they're his. I am wearing underwired bras again, yes. I think it's more the "regression" as it were, him asking for a feed again during the day - I don't want to have to go back to mat bras, leaky boobs and breast pads again.

Thinking about it, it's really not that much of a problem him feeding morning and evening and I would be sad to stop completely, I'm sure... I think it's ju.st a little something in the back of my mind that it will have to end and I'm not quite sure how that'll happen
