Hi everyone, just in need of a little guidance as I'm completely new to this bottle feeding stuff.
My dd is almost 3 months old, and she was bf up until last week, when due to a number of things (we all needed a little routine/structure, gp prescribed me anti-d's which were not suitable to take while bf'ing, dd is a VERY hungry baby etc) I made the move to formula.
Now, she's 13lb9oz at the moment, and was 9lb7oz at birth, so she's always been a fairly big baby who has needed quite a bit of feeding, I was prepared for that. BUT she's drinking 6oz of formula (aptamil stage 1) every 1-2 hours. Occasionally she's gone for 3 hours, sometimes goes for 2, but usually around 1.5hours after her last bottle she's crying to be fed again. Is this normal? She usually drinks the whole lot, occasionally leaving around an oz. I bf my ds until he was 14months so this is completely new to me.

If she seems hungry you could either try giving her larger bottles as she may need more than they suggest or you could go for hungry baby formula which is harder to digest so fills them up for longer.
Is it genuinely hunger making her cry or is she tired as most babies will happily feed when they actually want a sleep.?

if your lo is finishing her bottles then add an ounce extra to each. You could also be confusing a tired cry with a hungry one - maybe your lo needs a sleep after 1.5hours rather than a feed (she may be used to the comfort feeding of your boob in helping her to settle - have you tried a dummy?). It is also a growth spurt age and your lo will be extra hungry - if so, the feeding should settle back down again.
