moving from bottle to beaker (11 mths)

DD was breastfed until 8 mths, bottle introiduced at 5 mths with EBM to get her used to it when she started nursery at 6 mths. Milk supply dried at 8 mths and she is now formula fed.

I have been advised that she should start drinking from a beaker rather than a bottle now she is approaching 1 yr. She has always disliked beakers even for water and when I offered her milk in beaker early this pm she had a complete hissy fit - too about 1oz then arched her back and screamed, not to be pacified until she had the rest of her feed in her bottle.

We had a battle to get her to take a bottle in the first place and I'd rather not have another one to get her to take a beaker unless it really is vital that she starts to take a beaker now. Any thoughts - have posted in weaning also in case more appropriate there.

Many thx

Hi My son is 2 in May and I have only just taken him off the bottle. He had one b4 bed and one first thing in the morning. I tried milk from a beaker and open cup but he too had a hissy fit about it. He now has a smoothie from a carton in the morning instead, which he sees as a real treat-plus it's one of his five a day!!

My Advice is to keep her on the bottle for longer if your both happy with it. Don't rush something because a health visitor says that is what you should be doing. You know your baby better than she does.

Plus once they are a bit older you can explain that babies have bottles. My son threw his own bottles in the bin and knows they are now gone.

Good luck
