I've been on amoxicillin since saturday, and since sunday, 7 mo DD has been sick after feeds and seems to be very uncomfortable at night. she is being sick most times he is laid down. She did suffer from reflux but has not had domperidone or gaviscon since about 5 months. she laso still has a bit of a cough following a recent viral infection but i took her to the dr on saturday and she has not got a chest infection.
the dr did say she may get diarrhoea as the amox would pass into my milk but didnt mention anything else. could it be responsible for her sickness? should i try formula instead of feeding, and pump and dump?

When my baby was a week old, I had a little infection in my stitches and was prescribed an antibiotic (can't remember the name now). He was definitely fussy and cried in the evenings (I know, they all do!) and it stopped as soon as the course of pills was finished. It may have been a coincidence but I was sure that was the reason. He is not a whingy baby. It was just during those few days. It actually didn't ocurr to me at the time (I was still in the baby fog) but it did ocurr to my DH - he didn't want to say anything though as he was afraid I wouldn't finish the course of tablets.

thanks, SLAIH. I am not sure whether to finish the 7 day course or just to do the 5 days that i know you can do. I've tried to give her more formula today but i am only just weaningher onto that so not doing too well!

I've been on antibiotics throughout my pregnancy and am still on them now at day12 of DS. This was due to recurring chest infection that would turn into pnuemonia and land me in hospital if unchecked.
Amoxicillin was what I was on at first as it is the safest antibiotic to take apparently when pregnant or breast feeding - so I would finish the course if I was you, but I can understand your concern.

thanks Jill, and congratulations on your DS!
I've got some baby probiotics so am goign to try DD with those, as they always help me when my IBS flares up or when i have antibiotics myself.
