And now I think we have thrush...

DS (almost 15 weeks) and I have had some feeding problems since about 5 weeks - all of which seems to be settling now but for the last 3 days or so I have had intensely itchy boobs with some deep pains not relayed to feeding. I think this is thrush and am going to see my GP this afternoon.

Am just wondering if any knows what the recommended treatment is so that I can insist getting it from the doc.

Thanks

I'm not sure of the names of the drugs you need, but make sure the doctor prescribes meds for both of you, otherwise you'll just keep re-infecting each other.

I took this leaflet along www.breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk/thrush-and-breastfeeding.html after two rounds of nystatin for dd and fluconazole for me did nothing. Fluconazole for both dd and I did the trick in the end. The GP was, I think, a little surprised to see the leaflet but checked the information in her drugs book and seemed happy to write the prescription. Good luck- it is a bugger but if you can get both of you treated quickly hopefully things will get better quickly.
