What herbal teas are OK when breastfeeding?

Firstly, I want to thank you guys for all the posts you have put up about breastfeeding. My second child is now 11days old and we have BF well and truely sussed (at least for the moment)and that is oartly because of the reading up and sharing of problems that I've been able to do via these pages.

Anyway - I wanted to ask what herbal teas are OK or not OK to drink when breastfeeding. I know it is important to keep my fluid intake up - but I'm getting bored of water and rooibush tea!

Peppermint tea reduces your milk supply to best to avoid. You can buy 'breastfeeding tea' here (Austria) which contains Fennel and Aniseed amongst other herbs. But Ive never seen it in the UK which is a shame as it works well to build up supply.

Good luck!

I drink fennel tea, which you can get in most supermarkets. It is suppost to help babies with wind issues, not sure how true this is, but my DS burps pretty well!

If I fancy a change I have decaf coffee

Hmmm...I didn't know peppermint was not recommended. I always have one or two in the evening and never had any issues...
Also lime tree and verbena.

It hadn't even occured to me that herbal tea might not be OK! TBH, the only thing I do differently when bf is not drink too much booze and check that medicines are ok. Oh, and I wear HORRIBLE nursing bras, unless I am going for a night out, when I wear my lovely normal underwired bras or a corset and feel so much nicer
